Battle Blog - Japan Visit
( Birth of TrickingBattles youtube channel )

I didn’t really have high hopes for this one lol. Going to Japan was more for the experience of going to Japan than it was for me to battle. I mean, now adays I almost feel like what’s the point of going all the way somewhere, if not to at least have a battle or do something engaging on a challenging level? I guess maybe when I was younger I could travel more leisurely but as I age I prefer for there to be a focal point of some sort.

This trip ended up making some unexpected moves for me.

I did try out for TBJ...or was it WOT? Tbh I don’t remember. Tricking Battle of Japan is sort of the National Battles and World of Tricking has the international.. but I forgot which one was open, I think TBJ was. Needless to say the competition in my grouping was a bit tough. I think there was 4 or 5 of us total, with 1 pass to gain entry and I had Kira Kimura as well as Corky in my grouping, both sort of bigger names in the Japanese scene and both ended up making it to the actual tournament ( congrats to them ).

It ended up being a blessing in disguise I think though,

I filmed all the battles and uploaded it to youtube that day. Compiled all the raw battles into single matches and organized em on a playlist. Called the channel Tricking Battles and posted it online. Ended up getting like 100 subs over night ! Even though I wasn’t able to battle, I was still able to be useful and provide a service to the community at large. Glad I did, cuz everytime I go to an event, I’ll film n post it up !

What’s one thing I learned from this battle event ..

I guess the Japanese are the best in the world and their minimum skill level is really high. If you’re going to one of the tougher events.. gotta be prepared !
